This month gets us looking forward to summer weather and summer events. We adjust our schedules to accommodate seasonal changes for the activities available, mostly outdoors.
There are gatherings centered around sports, holidays, festivals and families. In the northern regions we love the outdoors so we can take in the sunshine.
When people gather outside, I can observe their various customs and traditions for their family. Some are quietly sitting bird watching or fishing. Some are boisterous as they engage in games or competitions. Others just enjoy being together listening to music. The activities are as various as the people.
God makes each of us unique and places us into our family. It is the same with the family of God. The Bible tells us that He adds to the church. Our church family can be as varied as the natural family. There are traditional churches, exuberant churches, no two identical. In the book of Revelations there are seven different churches described. Each one has a challenge to meet and a blessing that follows .
The challenge that we face is to be formed into the image of Christ. It is through the written Word that we become like Him. We must read it, meditate upon it and let it form our actions and our character until we look like Jesus. The blessing is that we become like Him: full of the love of the Father. We become His sons and daughters who are His family doing whatever the Father is doing. So let us welcome this new era of being fashioned like Christ formed into His family.
