Book of Remembrance

I pondered on the Book of Remembrance from Malachi 3:16.

“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, And the Lord listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His Name.”

The reality that God hears us when we speak to others is amazing. The God of the entire universe is listening to me speak! It says when those who fear the Lord speak to one another. The questions that I must ask myself are, Do I fear the Lord? Do I speak words of holiness and truth? Am I aware that He listens to all my conversations with my friends and acquaintances?

The knowledge that He is writing a book of remembrance of my conversations is sobering to say the least! As I read my devotions, and ponder my thoughts are they scriptural? Are they true? Are they wholesome? Are they edifying? Are they things that I would say or think with God’s hearing? These are the challenges that face us everyday as lovers of God.

The Psalmist David said, “Create in me a clean heart, Oh God, and renew a right Spirit within me”.

Let us be more aware of the Lord in our everyday conversations. Oh that His listening be sweet to His ears and joy to His heart!
