Fears

Let’s face it we all have fear of something. It can seem small or it can be all encompassing, but it is still

fear. Fear is an emotion that can paralyze. It can put limits on us that we never realize. Fear manages

decisions that hinder us from getting to where we need to go.

In the world around us there are things that can invoke fear. There are weather conditions that make

things hazardous. There are social and cultural conditions that create uncertainty. There are

governmental issues that set up insecurity. Financial problems have a way of making people fear their

future.

There is an incident in the book of Matthew 8:26 when there was a storm. Fear gripped the disciples.

Jesus asked them “why are you afraid?” Again in Matthew 14:31 when Peter walked on water and

suddenly started to sink, Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. Then Jesus asked him, “Why did

you doubt?” The reality is that Jesus was right there. He was in the same events but was not fear filled.

Jesus is the same today. He is here with us in our life storms. He is calming our storms, reaching out His

hand to steady us and keep us from sinking from fear and doubt. Faith is believing that He is and that He

is a rewarder of those who seek Him . Hebrews 11:6 Faith is the solution for fear.

We do well to keep our eyes focused on Jesus rather than the stirrings that set up fear. We are His

children and His eyes are upon us. Let us put our absolute trust in Him, not the circumstances. He is our

peace, our high tower, our hand of steadiness.
